Economic growth, and the development of cultural industry and art market
A capitalistic society industrializes way out of agricultural society and develops through political, economic, and cultural stages. At the political stage, which is an early stage of industrialization, the power of the state is centered on politics and accordingly, the government has large powers and great influence on economy and culture. This process continues until the per capita GDP reaches US$8,000. When the per capital income reaches over US$10,000, the national economy is rearranged with corporate as the center and the society changes from the politics-oriented to the economy-oriented society.
When the economy-oriented society comes, the social wealth increases, knowledge industries develop, international travel increases and consequently cultural awareness is increased. When the per capita income increases from US$8,000 to US$18,000, the concentration of capital, increased number of the upper class and increased demand for culture consumption become a reality.
